About Fanlistings

A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are) - they are just a place where you can have your name listed along with other fans of the same subject. TheFanlistings.org is the original (but not only) web directory for fanlistings, dedicated to uniting fans across the globe.

About Will Darcy

William Darcy is a character in the movie Bride & Prejudice, directed by Gurinder Chadha and released in 2004. Darcy is played by Martin Henderson.

Will Darcy is a modern American counterpart of Jane Austen's character Fitzwilliam Darcy. In Bride & Prejudice, Darcy belongs to a rich family of American hoteliers. He is travelling in India with a friend from Oxford, Balraj Bingley, when he meets Lalita Bakshi, an attractive, intelligent girl from a fairly poor Indian farm family with four daughters. As Balraj becomes interested in Lalita's sister Jaya, Darcy is attracted to Lalita, although they start off their acquaintance badly and she regards him as being arrogant and conceited, and is angry at his apparent disdain for India. Lalita's negative opinion is further reinforced by the tale of Johnny Wickham, whose family once worked for the Darcys, and who claims Darcy has mistreated him in the past.

When Lalita's family visits America for the wedding of a friend, however, Darcy, hoping to change Lalita's opinion of him, is friendly and relaxed, and he and Lalita become fairly close. Unfortunately, when Lalita finds out from Darcy's sister that it was Darcy who persuaded Balraj not to marry her sister Jaya, she is angry; she turns down the awkward proposal Darcy offers her and leaves with her family.

During a stopover in London, Darcy catches up with her, hoping to make amends, just as the Bakshis realize that their youngest daughter Lakhi has run away with Wickham. Darcy confides to Lalita that Wickham had gotten his younger sister pregnant several years before, and, alarmed, he and Lalita set off to find Lakhi and Wickham. With Darcy's help, Lalita is found. Darcy and Wickham have a minor fight, but no lasting harm has been done. They return to the house the Bakshis are staying at to find that Balraj and Jaya have gotten engaged and the family celebrates.

In the final scene, Balraj arrives with his family, and is greeted by the Bakshi family. Lalita, looking for Darcy, finds him playing drums with the Indian drummers in the town band. They embrace, and the scene cuts to a pair of elephants carrying "Just Married" signs. Balraj and Jaya ride one, while Darcy and Lalita ride the other...and they all, presumably, live happily ever after!

About the Title

"The Ideal Man" comes from a scene when Lalita and Jaya are visiting Goa with Balraj, Kiran, and Darcy. Kiran mocks Lalita's book, then points out that a love of books was on the list for Darcy's "ideal woman." She jokingly recites the list, claiming it was from "a very drunken night at Oxford." Lalita laughs at the unrealistic expectations of list and says "I'm not surprised Mr. Darcy hasn't found his ideal woman...does this make you the ideal man, then?" She obviously considers him far from ideal at this point, but by the end of the film, she realize that he is indeed the ideal man, for her anyway!
